The gun ban was more about election spin than about the criminals......why don't some enterprising journalists

take a look at the RCMP underfunding and staff shortages over the years? Why don't some media interview Palango or some former officers to get an idea of the real situation .That might entail actually doing some leg work like making a couple of phone calls instead of simply regurgitating a Press conference.

This is the real track record on crime if anybody really wanted to know.Don't believe they are understaffed? Why does it take forever to do investigatigations, including the one that deals with the murders of the four young officers in Mayorthorpe(the investigation was supposed to take 18 months) who were murdered by Roszko who used an assault rifle on them.

The Last Guardians-

"The only way to get tough on gun crime is to impose mandatory, non-negotiable prison sentences. Commit a crime with a gun, you go to jail. End of story.

The Liberals have insisted for years that such sentences don't work. But just before this election, they suddenly promised to double the existing minimum penalties, which are routinely plea-bargained away. Pardon us if we doubt their sincerity.

Martin is also pledging about $400 million over 10 years for social programs, more border guards and specially-trained RCMP to combat gangs, guns and organized crime. Fine.

But this handgun ban reveals the Liberals' crime strategy for what it really is: Another expensive, useless, feel-good crackdown on law-abiding citizens, while the criminals go on firing -- laughing all the way."
